Gratitude Mountain Test

This past weekend, a number of LifeSpring families were at Blue Mountain for the Spartan Event Weekend. Spartan races are obstacle course events that combine trail running with physical challenges like wall climbs and carries. Because this Spartan event was held at Blue Mountain, half of it involved hiking up the mountain. The way the course was laid out for the five kilometer “sprint” (I don’t know who would sprint that), was that the track would keep going partially up…

Faith Comes from Hearing

Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:17 The Scripture teaches us that as sheep we are able to hear God’s voice. This means that He is already speaking, but the recognition of His voice is what takes time and relationship. This past weekend, a few of the LifeSpring families went to Blue Mountain. As we watched the children run around and play, I saw little Zeke up in one…

Come to Jesus

Come to me [Jesus], all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 As someone who is currently feeling weary and burdened, this passage is very relevant to me. In this season of life, I’ve found it hard to…

Heroes of Faith

One of my heroes of faith has always been my grandmother. Every time we talk she shares with me stories of how God has moved in her life and how she has seen God do countless miracles time and time again. When I think about our season of increasing our faith, I think about what it took for my grandmother to increase her faith in God. I remember my grandmother telling me a story of when she was invited to…

Increase our Thankfulness

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful long weekend and have been able to rest from the busyness of September. The idea of gratitude that’s at the centre of this season has always been close to my heart. One person who I think captured this spirit of gratitude so well was Paul. Paul was obviously a great man; almost half of the books in the New Testament can be attributed to him! But he also suffered so…

Increase Our Faith: Life By Faith

How do we live by faith? The truth of the matter is, if you have received Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour – you are already living by faith. By faith we accept the Lord (miracle of salvation). By faith we go into glory (eternal life). Living by faith is not something you can see or feel. When we live by faith, there is expectation and hope but oftentimes we cannot see the supernatural, we cannot always see what…

Heart Check

Recently, during the weekly Bible study I attend, one of the leaders said this, “A person pursues what their heart is set upon. If their heart is set upon the world—they will pursue the world. If their heart is set on God—they will pursue God.” And as I was hearing this, I felt convicted to ask, “Am I pursuing God?” I realized that I wasn’t. I wasn’t walking away from God, but some time had passed since I was actively…

Municipal Elections: Why Vote?

On Sunday, we got to hear from our very own Pastor Emeritus Alvin Koh. With Alvin’s heart for the City of Toronto, it was fitting that he shared about why we should be voting in this year’s municipal elections. He reminded us that God cares about our communities and how they are governed which is why we as Christians need to be engaged in the elections by voting and praying for the election, candidates, and the city. The scripture tells…

Breaking New Ground

Last Sunday, we got to hear from both Andrew and Lyndon and Patrice from GAiN. We first met Lyndon back in 2021 when he served as a driver for a team of people cycling across Canada to raise money for water wells. Part of GAiN’s work is to reach out to remote communities in Africa that don’t have easy access to water, to digs wells for these communities along with sharing the gospel. On Sunday, Lyndon and Patrice shared about their…
