Everything Wants to Grow
We had the privilege of listening to my beautiful and amazing wife, Karyne. She taught lessons from her garden, but more importantly the things God has been showing and revealing to her as she nurtures growth. Take a listen and be blessed! One thing that the Lord was highlighting to me as she spoke was her statement that “Everything Wants to Grow”. In God’s divine creation there is a God-given mandate to simply grow. We can find it for mankind…
So Much More
I’m not old, just naïve, but over this past year I have both seen and experienced God in so many ways that when the question of more came up during the Wildfire Retreat, I thought, “there’s more?” It felt greedy to even want more when I had already been given so much, but as I hesitated to raise my hand the Lord showed me a picture of the universe. A large starscape littered with planets and celestial bodies, with the…
Fruitfulness Requirement: Nutrition
In God’s design, a requirement for growth and fruitfulness is proper nutrition. Nutrients are substances that provide the fuel required to support growth, maintain health, and even repair damage. Having the proper nutrition for seeds will determine the health of the seed. It can stunt the growth, maintain its maturity, or help it flourish to fruitfulness. Nutrients are found in many different forms – including fertilizer, aka poop! The bottom line is, seeds require nutrition for fruitfulness. And in our…
The Promises of God
It was such a blessing to have Ray Leung speak on Sunday. All of us, at one time or another, have dealt with the issue of fear. There are so many unknowns in life and so many things beyond our control that it can be easy to succumb to fear. And what the world offers us isn’t very helpful. As Ray said, fear often works by isolating us from others. What the world tells us is that we are more…
All Scripture Really Means All Scripture
Do you know the story of the woman at the well? Jesus approached a Samaritan woman drawing water from a a well at midday and struck up a conversation with her. What about the good Samaritan? An Israelite man, who is beaten up and ignored by priests and pharisees, is cared for and given medical aid by a Samaritan. Both thse stories have a common theme of being fairly well know and, you guessed it, Samaritans. These encounters emphasize the…
Who is Your “Other”?
Happy Canada Day weekend! For those of us who call Canada home, I think we have so much to be thankful for on Canada Day. Having grown up here, I sometimes take for granted some of the basic benefits that come with living in this nation. But the ability to freely live and thrive here is a significant way that God has blessed so many of us. So remember to say a prayer for Canada, that God would guide our nation…
Fruitfulness Requirement: Germination
In God’s design, a requirement for growth and fruitfulness is the process of germination. The process of germination, in essence, is the breaking and dying of the old so that the new can come. In fact, Jesus teaches us the following principle: Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. John 12:24 The process of germination is not glamorous or extravagant, in fact,…
A Redeemed King
Many of the kings in the bible ended their reign how they started it; if they did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, the Lord blessed them and gave them peace. And if they did evil and went against God, their reign tended to be short and ended in defeat. Though there are exceptions to each generalization, one story that stands out between both is the story of Manasseh, King of Judah. Manasseh came into power at…
Almighty God Meeting (AGM)
Praise God for an amazing report of God’s provision and guidance at our 2025 AGM. God is so good. He has entrusted us and blessed us with more than we could have ever imagined. In a year where the world’s economy was shaken (I personally felt an ~30% decrease in revenues), the Lifespring family posted a $141,000 surplus! A surplus that, through prayer and seeking to hear the Lord, we felt the Lord guide us to sow in its entirety.…
Make Disciples
This past Sunday we had the privilege of celebrating Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. Thank you for all that you do. When I think of fatherhood, the verse that always comes to mind is Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” When thinking of this verse, a word comes to mind as well. The word is discipleship. Discipleship is just not for fathers, but…
Curb Your Initiative
I don’t know about you, but I love people who take initiative. I love when people see a need/problem, whether it be laundry on the floor, groceries to put away, gaps in communication, etc and do something to directly help with/fix the problem. I like to think I am a person with initiative because when I see things/tasks that need to be done, I almost immediately work on it. However, too much of a good thing can be pretty bad.…
Fathers Really Really Matter
Fathers, please hear this: We Love You, We are Proud of You, and You Are Good! Being a father is an interesting journey. When I am became a father to Justus, I started to talk to my child like a Singapore aunty. “Wah – so cute lah”. And Karyne looked at me and just said “why are you speaking like that?” I had no idea. I saw my mom do that. When I see a small child I instinctively just…
