Being Present in the Present
We had the privilege of having Samuel Lai, deacon of Wildfire, speak to our church family this past Sunday. Sam taught about being present in the present. We often look back and long for ‘the good old days’ or we look to the future in hopes of better days. But in doing so, we miss the blessings right in front of us. For anyone who has a teenage child and up, we can all truly relate. Every time I see…
Baby Dedication
Children are a gift from God. As Kingdom citizens, we are called to recognize that children belong to Him. Parents are given the amazing responsibility of caring for this gift, but also the wonderful privilege of enjoying the gift. Because children belong to God and are given by grace as gifts to parents, it is only proper that children be dedicated back to Him. Baby dedication is very interesting. The focus is on the children, yet all the work and…
The Ten Commandments
Thank you, Mr. Soon for speaking and sharing with the LifeSpring family. You always serve the family in so many ways, it was an honor to be able to hear your heart and how the Lord is working in your own life. As Mr. Soon was speaking, I just felt the Lord say, “This is my son.” To be a good father, one must learn to be a son, and Mr. Soon is a good father. As Mr. Soon was…
Conviction
We had the amazing privilege to hear a testimony from Mae-Tuin. Mae-Tuin has been in so many ministries, we need to find new ones to put her in! As she shared her stories of challenge and how God was breaking through, it was encouraging to see that in the midst of uncertainty, Mae-Tuin would find Jesus. As she shared, the Lord was highlighting the idea of conviction. It seems like every testimony starts with challenge, yet it declares and proclaims…
Fruitfulness: Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a powerful Kingdom key. Thankfulness is a gateway to the presence of God. Even the word “praise” can be translated as “thanks to God”. We can use the word praise or thanksgiving interchangeably. Therefore, thanksgiving is not something that is simply a good act, it is essential in our journey of maturity and fruitfulness. We want to mature in our journey of thanksgiving. We want to move from being thankful (singular moments) to being people who at the…
Fruitfulness Requirement: Sunshine
In God’s design, a requirement for growth and fruitfulness is sunshine. Sunshine is vital for plants because it is a source of energy that plants need that creates food for growth and survival. Without sunshine, plants will not grow strong and may not grow at all. In fact, if two seeds are in the exact same environment (soil, water, etc.), but one seed is given sunlight and the other is given no sunlight – the difference is that one will…
Love Demands Action
Another Sunday and another amazing blessing from a guest speaker. This past Sunday we had the privilege of hearing from Jenny (Remember Ministries), who has been instrumental in helping the LifeSpring family in our refugee sponsorship process. As Jenny was sharing her journey into refugee ministry, the Lord highlighted that everything changed when Jenny encountered and experienced the heartbeat and love of God. God did not put ideas in her head first, God gripped and changed her heart. Once God…
God’s Not Done
We had the amazing privilege of having Donnett and Daniel from Compassion Canada to come speak to us this past Sunday. They encouraged us and thanked us as a partner. Part of the guidance LifeSpring felt this year was to be generous, so we decided to sow our 2024 surplus. One of the projects we decided to sow into was a mother & baby survival program in Rubongi, Uganda. The project details can be found HERE. Rubongi has a special place…
Missionaries
We had the privilege of hearing from Mary Cho, a missionary to Sierra Leone in West Africa. She shared about her adventures and challenges serving in a foreign nation founded on witchcraft while serving and loving those often forgotten. Mary serves at a blind school. As Mary spoke to the church family, she kept encouraging us that although our lives and surroundings seem so far apart, we were all part of the same body. In my quiet time this past…
Fruitfulness Requirement: Pruning
In God’s design, a requirement for growth and fruitfulness is the act of pruning. Pruning is the process of cutting away dead or overgrown branches/stems. The act of pruning is required to increase fruitfulness and growth. When Karyne is working in her garden, she is constantly snipping away. I often see dead branches and leaves being cut off so that it makes room for the new. However, sometimes I see her cut off large, fresh, and lively branches. In cutting…
Some Things Change, Some Things Should Never Change
Having the Wi family here in Toronto was such an amazing time. For me, it was extremely nostalgic. Every place that Adrian & Sherene went, I was reminded of moments that happened over 15 years ago where we shared laughs, tears, and moments with the Lord. Whether it was in the Fireside room where we used to have Overflow, in the sanctuary where I decided to go into the priesthood, or at Redeemer where I had a deep encounter with…
Welcome Back Wi Family
It has been so good to have the Wi family back the past couple of days and we are so excited as they continue to prepare to speak at our upcoming Family Weekend. The Wi boys are so big, Sherene is still mama bear, and Adrian is still short. Everything is so different, yet everything is the same. In worship, I saw a fast-forwarded vision. I saw hundreds of moments where the Holy Spirit had fell over the people of…
