How Vigilant Are You With Your Heart?

How Vigilant Are You With Your Heart?

Dear LifeSpring Family,

Recently, I was meditating on Proverbs 4:23 (ESV):

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

I googled the meaning of vigilant and found the following definition. Vigilance means the state of keeping a careful and continuous watch for potential danger, trouble, or difficulties. The core action of vigilance is staying alert, awake, and closely focused on your surroundings or a task to spot problems before they happen.  I realized I had not been very vigilant over my spiritual heart.

Just as my physical heart pumps life to my body, the springs of living water flow from my spiritual heart. In Matthew 6:21 and Luke 12:34 it reminds that,

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

The Lord Jesus Christ has been asking me if I have been keeping my heart with all vigilance and if I am carefully allowing and reviewing what treasures I store in my heart.

Do some listening prayer. Consider using Matthew 6:19-21 and/or Luke 12:33-34. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the treasures that you have been storing in your heart and whether it is time to upgrade the treasures in your heart. For from it flow the springs of life.

Grace upon grace,

Jerry
