Increase Our Faith – Advancing the Kingdom of God

Increase Our Faith – Advancing the Kingdom of God

We had an amazing privilege to listen to our elder, Joe Chong. Joe takes us down a journey of how God has been showing him how to Advance His Kingdom. Please take a listen to the sermon HERE.

As Joe was sharing how God has been working in his life and the things God has been doing to take him from where he was to where he is today – Joe shared a moment in time that I remember vividly. It was a place called Emily Lake. I was pretty young (~12 years old) and I remember watching this tall guy in a hat fall to the ground. He was lying on the grass and there was no shade. He was lying there, people would come and pray for him, they would leave, and there he was – still laying there. I knew God was doing something because by this time we were playing sports and the guy on the ground loved sports, so he would normally be playing with us. But this time, there he was, still laying on the ground. I thought it was weird, but I didn’t think much of it.

As Joe shared about this moment, he was sharing something that changed his entire life. It was a moment where God’s hand touched his life. It was in this moment that the fingerprint of God shaped and pointed Joe to be the man he is today. It was not about a great speaker, an amazing worship, a well thought out retreat, it was the finger of God that touched Joe’s life that has forever shaped him.

That was over 30 years ago and that fingerprint is still visible today. You can hear the conviction in Joe’s voice and his heart through his obedience. That touch from God changed everything. He was given a new mind, a new heart, new eyes, new ears. Everything new. Everything a little bit more like Christ.

Here at Lifespring, our prayer is that you too would have a moment with the Lord. We are not the best speakers, nor do we have the best worship, production, etc. But we have a God that can work through little things to make big changes. May His amazing love, His amazing touch transform us to be more like Him. May our old ways pass away and God’s ways arise.

It is an honour to work alongside Joe & Natalie as an eldership. I know I can trust them because I know that God has touched their lives. May the Lord continue to transform our grandparent generation, adult generation, and the next generation. May we be a church family that is continually being transformed by His great love.
