Dear LifeSpring Family,
This past Sunday, I had the privilege of leading Holy Communion during our service. I love celebrating Holy Communion because it reminds me of the hope and joy that awaits me.
Pastor Gabe reminded us in his Easter Service message of the importance of blood in our lives. Life is in the blood both physically and spiritually.
Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
Hebrews 9:22 (ESV)
Every Sunday, I remind myself that our Lord Jesus Christ is the ultimate Lamb of God who shed His blood for my forgiveness. I often need this reminder because we are Easter people living in a Good Friday world. Sometimes this broken, suffering world can distract my eyes from our Lord Jesus Christ long enough to lower my spirits.
This is when I need to be reminded of the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ, as described in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (ESV):
For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Yes, we are Easter people living in a Good Friday world but with our eyes fixed on our Lord Jesus Christ, we have access to His righteous blood to face our “Good Friday world”.
P.S. Thank you for praying for my “Good Friday world” of dental surgery this past Monday.
