Happy back to school. For parents, that likely means busier schedules and lots of driving to school and extracurricular activities. For students, it means classes and (hopefully not) endless stacks of homework. And for everyone else, it’s a very noticeable increase in traffic and commute time. It’s the start of an exciting and increasingly busy time for a lot of us, myself included.
In the middle of the busyness of going back to school and preparing for our Kingdom Kids launch, I find myself needing to be still and intentionally spend some time with the Lord. I already had a hard time getting in that time with God during the summer, and all the busyness with school starting wasn’t going to help. I was reminded of Psalm 46:10, which says,
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Recentering myself around God has been helping me to wrap my head around everything going on and keep my sanity. My hope is that I’ll be able to keep this up after the rest of my classes start and everything goes on at full steam. One thing I try to remember is that although spare time is a luxury that many of us don’t have, taking some time to be still can be as simple as a 5-to-10-minute breather. It could be a quick prayer. Maybe it’s a power nap. Regardless of how you use it, time spent with the Lord is never wasted, no matter where you’re at in life.
