What a packed, yet amazing, weekend for the Lifespring family. Friday evening was our very first 415 Food Hub of the year, Saturday we had Dr. Siang Yang do a training sessions, and Sunday we had Siang Yang as our speaker. My body is tired, but my spirit is filled to the brim.
There was so much to unpack the last couple of days, but something the Lord has been highlighting to me is the same question that has come up over and over again – Can You See It?
Siang Yang was teaching us to have a vision OF God. One of his points was to recognize the greatness of God. This is an area that we often underestimate. We give Satan and his demons so much power when really Satan is an unemployed cherub. We believe there is a great struggle between good and evil and we are not sure which side is going to win. We believe that Satan and God are of equal power. But this is wrong! God is already victorious. God has already defeated Satan. God is not comparable Satan because they are simply not the same. One is creator, one is created.
I am reminded of a story from 2 Kings 19; the Israelites are surrounded by an Assyrian army, and it was clear it was only a matter of time before defeat. The enemy was hurling insults to God, and the Israelites were losing hope. In a place of utter defeat, King Hezekiah brought this to the Lord’s attention. Upon doing so, the Scriptures says:
2 Kings 19:35-36
“That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death 185,000 in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning – there were all the dead bodies! So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew”
An entire army was defeated by 1 angel. Not a vast army, incredible acts of nature, balls of fire from the heavens. One, single, angel. And it was complete; the enemy was defeated.
Life has a way of presenting problems in front of us that seem insurmountable. Life can be loud and all the challenges and worries get bigger, taller, and more numerous. We can feel like the Israelites, surrounded and losing hope, clear that it is only a matter of time before everything comes crashing down. Life can feel and seem like utter defeat.
We (and me) forget that our God is far greater than anything Satan or this world can throw at us. We forget that this King of Kings created the world with simply His voice. We forget that this Lord of Lords can strike down 185,000 soldiers with just 1 angel. We forget that our God is greater. Far greater than what we can even dream or imagine.
This weekend was filled with so much, but if there is only one thing you can do today – put God back where He belongs. Far above it all. Far greater than it all. Far stronger than it all. He is able.
Help us Father to see You. Not what we think of You. But help us see You. Give us eyes to see your greatness and everything that comes with that. Help us to remember that you are far above it all. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
