Run and Not be Tired

Run and Not be Tired

Happy fall season! It’s hard to believe how quickly summer passed this year. At TLCF, it felt like July and August were pretty packed, with something happening almost every weekend. Between retreats, food hub barbeques, missionary visits, the summer Kingdom Kids program, and events like visiting the Cummer Lodge seniors home, the summer flew by week after week.

For some of us, the fall may bring some relief knowing that we can return to our normal routines. But for many of us, we may be entering the fall season a bit anxiously. It feels like the fall adds on another layer of busyness to life. The tasks, responsibilities, and challenges from before are still there, but now with added demands.

As I was praying earlier this week, a passage came to mind that spoke to this. It’s from Isaiah 40:28-31.

28 Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard?
    The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the creator of the ends of the earth.
    He doesn’t grow tired or weary.
His understanding is beyond human reach,
29     giving power to the tired
    and reviving the exhausted.
30 Youths will become tired and weary,
    young men will certainly stumble;
31     but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength;
    they will fly up on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not be tired;
    they will walk and not be weary.

Perhaps you are feeling tired, weary, and exhausted by the demands you’re facing. Maybe you’re continuing to struggle with challenges that are now carrying over into the fall, with its added responsibilities.

It’s amazing to know then that God doesn’t grow tired or weary. Not only that, God addresses our own tiredness and weariness. He gives power to the tired and revives the exhausted. When we put our hope in God, we will run and not be tired, and walk without becoming weary.

I feel like there are three groups of people today. For some of us, we may be feeling tired and weary and have no idea what it feels like for God to give us power and revive us. Others may have gotten a taste of what it feels like to encounter the power of God giving us strength. Others may be living the truth of this passage, feeling like they are flying, running, and walking without getting tired or weary.

Whichever group you are in, I pray that God would take you just one step further in experiencing God’s power that can renew your strength.
