Dear LifeSpring Family
This past weekend, Dr. Siang Yang Tan reminded me that everything is about Him, our Lord Jesus Christ.
My focus should not be on how I can increase my faith but on whom I am putting my faith in. Siang Yang gave an acronym for the word Faith: Forsaking All I Trust Him.
As a Christian for many years, I can sometimes put my faith in the law. This is because of the Holy Spirit’s good work in transforming parts of my life. Prone to forget God’s goodness, I sometimes credit myself for my Christian behaviour and become judgemental toward others. Galatians 3:10–14 reminds me of the danger of this attitude and that no one can be justified before God by the law rather the righteous shall live by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
This faith is in our Lord Jesus Christ because Christ redeemed me from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for me. As I understand and internalize this truth, my decisions will increasingly reflect Forsaking All I Trust Him.
The Righteous Shall Live by Faith
[10] For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” [11] Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” [12] But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” [13] Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—[14] so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
