Loved to Love

I was recently reminded of two people who had a tremendous impact on my life. One was a family friend and the other was my bible study children’s program teacher. The family friend had created a safe space that brought about healing during a hard time in my life and my bible study children’s leader was one of the people God used to convict me to give my life to Christ. The thing that stands out to me is that neither of them know how much they helped shape very important parts of my life!

They didn’t strike me as people who were the best at what they did or people who always knew what they were doing, no insult intended. But they were people who consistently showed up in my life and loved in everything they did. Their work may feel unseen, but God had used them in the inner workings of His plan for my life.

Whether we volunteer or serve in different capacities, we can downplay the difference we make and convince ourselves that our actions are pointless. And though we can’t always see or hear of the transformation, our impact can be so much greater than we realize. God can use any opportunity, whether it’s the time we have with someone every day, or if it’s only an evening, or one conversation. God can use the littlest moments we may overlook for His kingdom as long as we are willing to show up and love someone the way He loves us.

We love because he first loved us.

1 John 4:19

Our work may feel unseen, but God can use the little that we give Him to transform lives, all by sharing the love we have received from Christ. We are blessed to be a blessing; we are loved so we can love others. May we never underestimate the power of showing up and loving someone how God loves us.
