Love Demands Action

Love Demands Action

Another Sunday and another amazing blessing from a guest speaker. This past Sunday we had the privilege of hearing from Jenny (Remember Ministries), who has been instrumental in helping the LifeSpring family in our refugee sponsorship process.

As Jenny was sharing her journey into refugee ministry, the Lord highlighted that everything changed when Jenny encountered and experienced the heartbeat and love of God. God did not put ideas in her head first, God gripped and changed her heart. Once God had her heart, everything started to move forward.

I remember in my Tyndale days, Aldous, Ryan, and myself would take courses together, and during breaks, we would go to the gym and shoot basketballs. Without fail, every break we would find ourselves side by side playing mini games and just having a good time. One day, Aldous and I found ourselves in the gym alone. Ryan was in class, but did not join us for basketball – where did he go?

It was in this season, Ryan and Theresa started courting each other. Theresa lived really close to Tyndale and during breaks instead of playing basketball with the boys, Ryan would visit Theresa. I remember sitting in class after the break, looking out the window and seeing Ryan leave Theresa’s place (yes he was late). I knew right there, we had lost him forever.

Love demands action. It changes us. When we encounter love, we can never be the same because everything changes. God Himself demonstrated this principle of love demands action:

For God so loved the world, HE GAVE His one and only son…

John 3:16

God loves us so much, it demanded an action – the sacrifice of His own son. God didn’t just use words or thoughts, He displayed love in action; love in sacrifice.

God really loves you. He really really loves you. It does not matter what you have done or even where you are at. He really loves you. Receive His love and let it transform you from the inside out.

God really loves your neighbours. He really really loves them. It does not matter what they have done or even where they are at. He really loves them. Pray for them that they may receive this unconditional agape love that will transform them from the inside out. Don’t give up on them, pray for them.

Loving God and Loving others is the foundation of the LifeSpring family, everything else simply builds on that.
