If I Perish, I Perish

If I Perish, I Perish

Dear LifeSpring Family,

Dorothy and I recently finished studying the Book of Esther in our Bible Study Fellowship program.

Most of us are familiar with Esther’s declaration, “If I perish, I perish.” However, before making this heroic statement, she took practical steps found in Esther 4:15–16 (ESV):

“Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai, ‘Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.'”

Esther understood the power of fasting when facing difficult situations; this serves as a timely reminder for our January fast. While we may not be in life-or-death circumstances, some of us are facing significant challenges. As Pastor Gabe reminded us that God wants to increase our faith in 2026, I am asking God to reveal specific areas in my life where He wants that growth to happen.

I am both excited and apprehensive about what the Holy Spirit may reveal, as I know this process can be uncomfortable or even costly. Please pray for me and for LifeSpring as we listen well and obey quickly as the Lord answers our prayers.

Grace upon grace,

Jerry
