Dear LifeSpring Family,
What a wonderful Family Weekend we had at Redeemer’s University! It was such a blessing to gather as a church family. We were especially delighted to have Adrian, Sherene, and their family with us. It was a sweet reunion and their ministry was truly impactful. Dorothy and I were also thrilled to see so many children from our Kingdom Kids program, and it was encouraging to have visitors join us for the weekend.
Adrian and Sherene shared valuable insights, teaching us the 5 Steps of Counselling First Aid. A key takeaway from their teaching was the importance of being aware of our current state of mind – whether our brain is functioning in the green, yellow, or red zone.
Interestingly, I had the opportunity to apply this teaching on Monday night with Dorothy. As we discussed our Tuesday schedule, I noticed my brain entering the yellow zone. I was starting to get into an animated discussion before I caught myself and realized my brain was indeed in the yellow zone. This prompted me to slow down and consciously prevent it from escalating to the red zone. It was a good reminder that Dorothy is my helpmate, not my enemy, and that I need the mind of Christ.
As it says in 1 Corinthians 2:14-16:
“The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. ‘For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.”
In Christ, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit and have the mind of Christ, which is always a green brain.
Grace upon Grace!
Jerry
