Jehovah Nissi

In March I had the opportunity to assist in the Kingdom Kids Nissi class. For those of you who don’t know, Nissi is Grades 1-2 class in Kingdom Kids.

On this particular day, I got to assist Wes alongside Ben as he taught the class. If you ever want to see a man in his element or as Gabe might say “a fish in water” you should see Wes teach that class. It was like watching curling in the 2026 Winter Olympics. At first you’re think it’s just rolling some stones down some ice. How hard can it be? But the reality is that curlers have such precision, intentionality, and skill in placing those stones exactly where they want them to be. Wes’ teaching was filled with precision, intentionality, skill, and so much more.

Oftentimes we don’t get a chance to see the fruit of what happens in Kingdom Kids, especially when we’re in the main service. But let me tell you, I saw seeds being planted and fruit from what had already been growing.

I saw little ones being asked, “Who is the most important person in the world?” And their response was, “Jesus!” (Shoutout to Taya who said I was an important person in her life because I’m friends with her father.) Children were giving prayer requests for themselves, their families, and their friends. The crazy part was that they didn’t seem to know how powerful their words were or how rare their actions seemed to be. For all they know, it was normal, it was natural, and it was Kingdom Kids.

As parents we want to give our kids the best. The best foods, the best education, the best things, the best opportunities, etc. We are always looking to set them up for life in ways that would benefit them down the road. We hopefully do this out of love not lack.

Giving them ample opportunities to get to know Jesus and practice the things He did here on earth is exactly some of the ways we can give the best to our children.

Kingdom Kids is living out the scripture:

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭6‬ (‭NIV)

The Scripture tells us:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.‭‭

John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭(NIV‬‬)

God, our Father, loved us so much that He gave us Jesus. Shall we not do the same for our own children? Can we love them so much that we would give them the chance to know and follow Jesus? Wouldn’t you want them to know the same Jesus who saved you, set you free and who continues to do so?

Take this moment to reflect on what seeds you want to sow into the next generations. What has been sown into you?

At LifeSpring I’ve heard people say, “My ceiling is their floor,” meaning that the people coming after them will not have to start where they started but rather be further along.

In this season of Increasing Our Faith, what can you do to raise your “ceiling” and in turn raise their “floor”?
