We had the amazing privilege of having Donnett and Daniel from Compassion Canada to come speak to us this past Sunday. They encouraged us and thanked us as a partner.
Part of the guidance LifeSpring felt this year was to be generous, so we decided to sow our 2024 surplus. One of the projects we decided to sow into was a mother & baby survival program in Rubongi, Uganda. The project details can be found HERE.
Rubongi has a special place in my and LifeSpring’s heart. When we first went to Rubongi around 2010, we saw that this small village struggled with a water source that was unclean and quite far away. The biggest challenge they had was the daily assignment of fetching water from the distant watering hole. One of our directors at the time felt the Lord put on his heart – “give them water”.
After months of changing our CRA mandate and raising funds, we were able to create a water catchment system that would collect rainwater and safely store it underground for the community needs. God put on the director’s heart to provide water, so he was obedient and worked hard to make it happen.
What happened next was something no one could have known.
The church in Rubongi now had a building and a sustainable water source. Since the infrastructure was available, the church also became an elementary school. Because that the church had a building, a water source, and was an education center – Compassion came in started a child sponsorship program and built a playground for the site.
God has done so much with the simple act of obedience to “give them water”. Today, I can joyfully say this site has also birthed a secondary school and now Compassion is adding a mother & baby survival program.
I couldn’t believe it! This little building and village that we saw in 2010 has become a beacon of light for the entire village and community. The people can come to the church to drink water, get education, find safety, and most importantly find God.
As I was praising God, He put on my heart: “I’m not done yet”.
Wherever you are, whatever you are in the middle of – just know that God’s not done. He has the best in store for you and loves you so much. Trust Him. Listen well, obey quickly – let God guide and provide as His ways are the best ways.
