Last week, Sam Tse spoke at Wildfire (and she invited us over for dinner too. Best speaker ever!). The thing that stood out from her teaching was this line: “Am I [God] not bigger than this?”
This hit me because I am a great worrier. I love to plan things out and then worry about a million ways in which things can go wrong (under the guise of being prepared). And it’s not difficult to see all the problems, issues and potential for doom floating around the world and the internet and worry about that too. God being bigger than all our worries and problems is pretty obvious. However, it’s really easy to lose sight of God when we face with huge problems in our lives and in the world.
I’ve found that God is also not distant from us and our problems. He walks and journeys with us through everything, and I’ve personally experienced God giving me peace and comfort during some stressful situations.
If you’re going through a difficult time, saying “God is bigger than this” may not be that comforting and probably won’t change your situation. However, reaching out to God and having Him walk with you through your challenges can make a world of difference in your life.
“Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. 13 For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. 14 Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, little Israel, do not fear, for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.”
