In God’s design, a requirement for growth and fruitfulness in the seed world is the need for water. Water is an essential ingredient to a seed’s maturity and fruitfulness. A cute little kids science video explains it better than I: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kTt4xHHLzk&ab_channel=SciShowKids
The conclusion: seeds with no water, didn’t grow at all! No chance it would reach a state of maturity, absolutely no chance it would reach a state of fruitfulness.
But my delight is in the law of the Lord, and I meditate on it day and night. I am like a tree planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in season and whose leaves do not wither. Whatever I do prospers.
Psalm 1:2-3
As seeds require water, we require the living water of God in our lives. We require a relationship with the King that nourishes our spirits and supplies us the strength to carry on. Like water, our relationship with the Lord is not a one and done, true fruitfulness will require a constant supply to manage the growth. Without water a seed will not have what it needs to survive. Without relationship with the Lord, we will not have what we need to survive.
I once thought God time was a Sunday. Some people give God 1 hour on a Sunday, our church family takes 2 hours! We must be doing fine. But the deeper I grow in the Lord, the more water I need from Him. A fruitful seed requires an abundance of water. A fruitful life requires a deep and abundant relationship with the King.
Like the Psalmist writes is Psalm 1 – a tree that accesses an abundant and plentiful source of water – will bear fruit, stand firm and prospers. By the grace and power of the Holy Spirit, we have access to this abundant water. Whenever we seek Him, we find Him. Don’t drink once a week, twice a week, 5 times a week. Drink everyday. God will never run dry.
