"One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple." Psalm 27:4
At Toronto Life-Spring Christian Fellowship, we believe in intimate worship with our Living God. The vision for our worship ministry is to incrementally usher in and host the Presence of God in our services, to give the Holy Spirit freedom to lead in our services.
So what is worship?
Jesus said in John 4:23-24:
"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth."
Before one can truly worship, one must first have a belief and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Worship is the outcome of our adoration, exaltation and magnification of God. When we praise, love, admire, and celebrate God, we are worshipping Him. Worship is totally concerned with the worthiness of God and not the worthiness of the worshipper.
Why do we worship?
Mark 12:30
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”
This is the greatest commandment – the first commandment that Jesus gave. Worship is the highest calling and first priority of the church. It is in worship that we are more able to fulfill this commandment of God. In worship, we meet Him, He meets us, and we pour our love on Him.
Mark 12:31
“Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these”
The second part of His commandment is to essentially love others and serve them in areas that God has called us to. Worship extends beyond leading/playing music on Sunday service. It transcends all aspects of our life with self and others, both in church and outside of church.
We believe that worship goes hand-in-hand with intercession and the prophetic. Worship is our key to accessing the King of Glory. We believe that it is God’s desire for His people to access Him through intimate worship. God is omnipresent, and His presence is always with us, however there are times when His presence comes in a greater measure and our capacity to experience God is increased. Worship ushers in the Presence of God. In the Presence of God, there is a power that changes lives. The enemy flees when the presence of God is present. We believe that worship, with intercession and the prophetic, are key components to accessing the King.
Picture a triangle where worship represents the top, intercession represents the left and the prophetic represents the right of the triangle. We believe worship is at the top of the triangle because it opens the way to both God’s heart and ours by piercing through the darkness and allowing us to gain access to the presence of the King. We are called to worship the Lord in Spirit and in Truth, and as we worship, we go closer to the Father’s heart and that prepares us for intercession. Worship and the presence of God leads to effective prayer; and as we move into combining the two we enter into one of our most powerful weapons against the enemy, worship intercession. When we enter into worship intersession a natural outflow will be a move into the prophetic that puts us into a strategic position of releasing the Word of God. We believe these are the days the Lord will call His churches to MOVE in all three areas: worship, intercession and the prophetic. We believe God wants to take the church into greater levels of worship through worship intercession and prophetic worship. His heart is to see His people access Him through all three areas! It is time we stand in the fullness of what our Heavenly Father has for us! It is time to ACCESS THE KING!
